Notts regained top-spot in Division One of the LV County Championship after taking maximum bonus points from a high-scoring draw against Sussex.
Murray Goodwin’s unbeaten century on the final day was enough for the captains to shake hands on a draw with 15 overs remaining on a batsman-friendly pitch.
Centuries from Mark Wagh and Bilal Shafayat and confident knocks from Will Jefferson and Matt Wood bode well for next week’s home game against second-placed Somerset.
“We never threatened to win the game on the final day but we’ve left with maximum bonus points and returned to the top of the table which is pleasing,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“It was a long day for us and it was inevitable that the game would be drawn but there were some strong individual performances. The pitch was good and it was important that our batsmen didn’t miss the opportunity to score runs.
“Any team would prefer to lead from the front even when others have games in hand and we’ve got an immediate opportunity to gain an advantage over Somerset next week at Trent Bridge.”
Newell also revealed that Alex Hales would be in the squad for the game against Somerset and could be in line for a debut.
